IVY SCREENS

Ivy green screens are grown in the Netherlands under cold greenhouses by Mobilane, a company that specialises in ‘green solutions’. The green screen comprises a metal grid that is entirely covered with Ivy or other plant varities. The plants (96 plants per Ivy screen) are planted in compost in a biodegradable pot, which is attached to the bottom of the metal grid. The biodegradable pot is made from coconut fibres. It takes approximately 24 months for the Ivy to grow and cover the screens to a height of 1.8m. After planting the Ivy Green Screen, the entirely organic planters degrade within one to two years and the plants will root in the surrounding subsoil.

Ivy Green Screens can be planted throughout the year, except during frost periods. The Green screens can be attached to either iron or wooden posts using specially designed brackets or directly against an existing structure. The Ivy Green Screens are high quality and come with a 10-year guarantee (Subject to correct maintenance). The screens can be cut to a required height or width and to provide some variation, there are different types of Ivy and different plants, colours and heights. Please see below. The screens are available at 1m, 1.8m, 2.2m and 3m and all the screens are 1.2m wide.

MAINTENANCE OF GREEN SCREENS

We offer a full ongoing maintenance service for your green screens. Our maintenance team call once a month, in their fully electric van, (100% zero emissions) to carry their tools to maintain and check on your screens. The team are DBS checked and can call out of hours if required. Maintenance includes the following;

Pruning-  You can prune the green screen once or twice a year. The best months for pruning are April/May and September/October.

Root growth- Plants develop both above and below the surface.

Irrigation- The Green Screen should be watered throughout the year. This is especially important during the first year and in hot / dry periods.

Feeding-  It is necessary to regularly fertilize the Green Screens to encourage good growth and leaf development.
